Johnson, Giblin Named Pioneer Baseball League Players of the Week for Week 1 Sponsored by RedPocket Mobile
The Pioneer Baseball League has named Modesto Roadsters shortstop Osiris Johnson and Glacier Range Riders right-hander Jonah Giblin its Players of the Week for Week 1, sponsored by RedPocket Mobile, after both delivered standout opening-week performances. Johnson powered Modesto to a perfect 6-0 start, while Giblin anchored Glacier's rotation with two winning starts as the Range Riders opened the season 5-1.
Johnson was one of the league's most dangerous players from the first pitch of the season, hitting .467 with 14 hits, three doubles, one triple, two home runs, 12 RBI, 10 runs scored, three walks, and nine stolen bases over six games. He finished the week ranked first on the Roadsters in hits a
nd stolen bases, second in RBI and total bases, and posted a massive .515 on-base percentage with an .833 slugging percentage.
The former Miami Marlins second-round pick made an immediate statement in Modesto's season-opening series against the RedPocket Mobiles. Johnson went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, a triple, and two stolen bases in the opener, added three more hits and two RBI the next night, then delivered a home run, double, four runs scored, and four stolen bases in a wild 12-11 win on May 21. He closed the week with another homer (off of internet sensation Eric Sim) and four RBI in the Roadsters' 9-3 win on May 24.
Giblin earned Pitcher of the Week honors after going 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and nine strikeouts across 11.2 innings in two starts. He opened the season with 5.2 innings at Great Falls, allowing two unearned runs while striking out three in Glacier's 14-2 win, then followed it with six innings of two-run baseball and six strikeouts in a 5-2 victory at Billings. Through Week 1, Giblin ranked tied for first in the league in wins and games started, second in innings pitched, and fifth in strikeouts.
With the Arizona State Sun Devils in 2025, Giblin worked out of the bullpen and posted a 4.29 ERA over 35.2 innings with 41 strikeouts, 15 walks, and a .248 opponent average. In his first week with Glacier, he showed starter's durability, strike-throwing ability, and the poise to limit damage — exactly the kind of tone-setting presence the Range Riders needed to begin the season.
